Structural Engineering Laboratory

Structural Engineering Laboratory serves as a wide spectrum of activities covering those related to teaching, research, and consultancy. The primary activities include experimental studies on model structural elements and assemblies under various static and dynamic loading conditions. With the available test area, state-of-the-art load-displacement-controlled equipment for load application, data acquisition and monitoring, the laboratory represents a distinctive facility for large and scaled investigation of the load-deformation behavior of structures.

Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory of the department of Civil Engineering is fully equipped with all the necessary equipment along with their accessories, required for B.E Civil and Mechanical Engineering courses in the syllabus.

The laboratory is kept in pace with the modern technological advancements by updating and purchasing new equipment whenever it is required. The laboratory includes Flow measurement set-ups and turbo machines. The laboratory experiments include the study of open channel flow, closed conduit flow, pump and turbine characteristics which helps the students to acquire thorough knowledge on the practical utility of these devices in the field.

CADD Laboratory

CADD Laboratory provides a modern facility for instruction in a variety of computer software packages. The lab is equipped with more than 45 computer systems with high end latest configuration hardware. The software available includes STAAD Pro, REVIT Architecture, REVIT Structural, AutoCAD, Primavera, REVIT MEP and ANSYS 14, 3D Studio Max.

PG laboratory is equipped with Civil 3D with AutoCAD, Primavera, ANSYS, STAAD PRO, SCAADS Design & Drafting Suite, SCAADS Building Estimator,  STRAP,  STRUDS,  Mathcad,   AUTOCIVIL,  NISA & NISA-Civil and ADT 2.0.

Strength of Materials Laboratory

Strength of Materials Laboratory is fully equipped with all the necessary machines with accessories for conducting laboratory classes for the Under-graduate courses in Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Sophisticated equipments are periodically purchased to modernize the laboratory.

It is one of the premier laboratory for the purpose of Consultancy and Testing works. Almost all the government agencies and private organizations in and around Tirupur have access to this laboratory for consultancy/testing services.

Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory

Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory is equipped with all the modern machineries required for the advanced research and consultancy services. All the equipments mentioned in the syllabus content of the undergraduate programme can be is carried out in the laboratory.

Concrete and Highway Engineering Laboratory

 

Concrete and Highway Engineering Laboratory was established in 2009 and was later bifurcated as HIGHWAYS LAB in 2012 with facilities for testing Bitumen, Tar and Aggregates. The Laboratory is fully equipped with all the necessary equipments, as required for B.E Civil Engineering in the syllabus prescribed by the University. The laboratory has been kept in pace with the modern technological advancements by purchasing new equipments as and when it is required.

The major equipments available in the laboratory are Aggregate Impact tester, Los Angels Abrasion Testing machine, Deval abrasion testing machine, Aggregate crushing value apparatus, Standard penetrometer, Ring and Ball apparatus, Apparatus for adhesiveness test , Flash point and fire point apparatus, standard  tar viscometer, Ductility testing machine for bitumen, Marshall apparatus, and Electronic Weighing Balance.

Survey Laboratory

Survey Laboratory is equipped with the instruments and tools that students use throughout the course. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments and demonstrate their proficiency on weekly lab exercises, mini projects and final exams.

Each laboratory group typically contains four students with a dedicated set of instruments to use, including auto level, theodolite, total station,leveling staffs, tripods, tape, chain and other common surveying tools. The lab also serves as office space for the surveying instructor and teaching assistants, so that the students can have direct access for clearing their doubts. In addition, students can utilize the opportunity to use total station, GPS, Digital level equipment which enables horizontal vertical and angular measurements in single operation.
